Clubfitting – Does One Size Fit The Pros?

5:11 pm, Mon, 13 February 12

I love one of the Google Tools called Google Reader.  It allows me to set up links to golf related blogs, and other blogs, that are often very interesting.

One such blog post recently published is from the GolfWRKs forum.  It showed the club specs for a very well known golfer who always wears a red shirt on Sundays.  You may want to go the GolfWRKs site and see if the post is still there, I prefer to not post that link here in this blog.

But there were some VERY interesting club specs that were noted on the club spec sheet that was shown.  Particularly, fairway shaft lengths, fairway shaft weights, iron lengths, and even iron lofts.  None of these even come close to resembling the "off the rack" club specs that folks buy in the golf stores.

Now it should be admitted that this player, and certainly other PGA pros, would not be expected to use clubs like the ones used by us mortals.  But the point is – as Tom Wishon has said in his Search for the Perfect Golf Club book – if you think for ONE MOMENT that the specs of the golf clubs that the Pros play is anything like what you can buy in stores, you are in for a rude awakening.

Check the GolfWRKs forum out and see if that link is still there……..the data is VERY INTERESTING!!
