Annual Golf Trip – YAY!
Annual Golf Trip – YAY!!
How To Handle MY “Landmines!”
As you read this, I and fifteen friends will be playing the first of six days of golf on the Alabama Robert Trent Jones Trail courses.
For me, I will be less prepared – at least in terms of the four rounds of golf I have played this year – than I have ever been for scoring well on this trip.
For fun, to learn, and for some “other” reasons – I decided to download some on-line training videos from someone I respect a lot – Dr. Bhrett McCabe. He created a pretty neat set of videos he calls Landmines Of The Golf Course. I plan to listen to this set of videos a few times before I go on the trip.
One of the things he said in these videos that REALLY like is to be patient and not believe I have to get off to a fast start. Why not “get into the round” – and give myself time to get my rhythm for my game and myself. Be patient – I have 18 holes. I will have some great holes, some average holes, some not so great holes.
I look forward to avoiding a LOT of land mines this coming week!
====================
This past week, I also had the honor of helping five members of the Roane State Golf Team play some great golf.
From left to right – Andrew Connor, Carter Beach, Wyatt James, Andy Fox, and Jacob Parten.
They participated in the District Regional Tournament at a course in South Carolina. Two days of play – total score for four golfers counts each day – and the prize a trip to the National Division 2 Junior College Championships in May.
Day One they struggled. But Day Two – a total score of 305, their best team score all year. AND Andy Fox qualified to go to the National Tournament as an individual.
I got to see first hand what pressure can be like in important competitions. Way to go guys – Coach Chris Griffin, Asst. Coach Bo Harris, and I were proud of your play and how you fought through YOUR land mines last week.
