Playing with Custom Fit Clubs Will Improve Your Practice and Your Golf Scores!

We all have been told that "practice makes perfect" in terms of hitting golf balls on the range and the effect of this practice on our golf scores.  Lately, I have been watching a lot of fairly experienced golfers hit range balls, and there have been some fairly consistent trends:

They make beautiful, smooth practice swings, and

When they hit the golf ball they use a swing TOTALLY different swing – usually a more violent "hit" but not at all like their practice swings.

Not only are their practice swings different than the swings they use to hit the golf ball – but they keep doing the same thing over and over again – sometimes hitting good shots but more often poor ones or shots that are not what they are capable of.  And there you go – "practice makes perfect?"

So why do players not use the same practice and golf swings?  Now, I know the "real swing" has that little golf ball to hit, and maybe they get tense when they have to make contact.

But I did some experimenting on myself recently – decided that no matter what I would use the same practice and real swings.  And for the most part I was able to do so – much more solid contact, better ball striking results, good scoring.  Why could I do this – well, in part I am convinced that I know My Clubs Fit Me – so I do not subconsciously adjust my swing to clubs that do not have the right weight, flex, and length.  I could trust that if I made a good swing that the results would be good – and I had a better swing tempo, good distance, and good "towards."

This is not the case for golfers who play with "self fit" clubs or with clubs that were fit in 20 minutes by someone who only cares about getting the next sale out the door.  How can you make confident swings when many of the results you get are not good, where you can never trust that you have a good possibility of hitting a good shot?

I have read many web postings that say that poor golfers do not really need custom fit clubs – but particularly if they want to get better, if they want to practice well and improve, the truth is exactly the opposite – beginners and golfers who want to practice and improve need clubs that give them the best potential to see good results, to get confident, to relax and make their real swings look JUST like their beautiful practice swings!  Get custom fit golf clubs, take instuction to develop good swing habits, and you can make that practice produce results that will put a smile on your face.
