Golf And Bifocals – NO HOW, NO WAY!
Golf And Bifocals – NO HOW, NO WAY!
If You Wear Bifocals When You Play – READ THIS!!
For years I have purchased two pair of single-vision glasses for golf when my eye prescription changed. One pair of sunglasses, once with normal lenses. WHY – because I KNEW that wearing bi-focal type glasses would affect my golf performance.
IF YOU WEAR BIFOCAL TYPE GLASSES FOR GOLF – READ ON!
Last Saturday, I did the first fitting I have done for 4 months. One of my first questions is do you wear bi-focal type eyeglasses? Often the answer is yes (as it was Saturday), and I immediately say you need to change to single vision glasses for golf.
But WHY? Well, I knew of a Golfsmith study what was performed in early 2000, but did not have a link to that study. Luckily, I could ask my AGCP Fitting Friends of any of them had a copy of this study – and two AGCP Members Richard Kempton and Keith Chatham did have a copy of this study – and you can read it through the link below…
And here is a YouTube video link that also discusses the problem with playing golf wearing bi-focals…
Bi Focal Problem Cure For Golf
If you wear progressive lenses (like I do), or tri-focals – same issue.
Now you might say – but I cannot read the scorecard if I wear single-lens glasses. Well – Richard and Keith both suggested a great solution. You can have a pair of single-vision glasses made that have a small magnifier in the top right corner – IF you play golf right-handed – of the eyeglasses. Then you can see the ball correctly with the single-vision part of your glasses, and look through the magnifier to see the scorecard.
