Low-compression golf balls are a great fit for slow swingers!

There are a number of golf balls that are a great fit for golfers with slower swing speeds (in the range of 60 mph with the driver). These low-compression golf balls help these golfers maximize their distance from their swings.

This morning I saw an article about a new entry into the low-compression golf ball arena – the Callaway Supersoft.  Here is a link to information about this golf ball – Callaway Supersoft.

The article I read said that this ball has a "compression number" of 38 – as measured by the independent ball compression tester Majestix.  Until this morning I had never seen a compilation of golf ball compression testing results. But, with a little "googling," I was able to find a listing of ball compression measurements for about 150 golf balls.  This listing comes from a web site GolfBallTest.org, and is provided at this link:

Golf Ball Compression Measurements

Pretty interesting!  The Majestix measurements are presented in the column "MPI."  Picking one brand as an example, most of the Titleist golf balls have measured compressions in the range of low 70s to high 80s.

If you are looking specifically for the golf balls on this list that have low compression, here are some of the major candidates and their compression values:

Wilson Duo (2012) – 32 (the lowest compression listed)

     Srixon Lady IQ Plus (2009) – 41

     Big Bertha Diablo (2009) – 47

     Noodle Noodle+ (2010) – 41

It certainly looks like the present "soft-ball" candidates what are most worth considering are the new Callaway Supersoft, and the Wilson Duo – the softest and I think still available.  And if you can find Noodle+ and Srixon Lady IQ Plus balls, these are also great options for slow swingers.

How About You? – do you have a favorite soft-feel golf ball that has not been discussed here, if so please comment.
