My Cold Weather Golf!

My Fall And Winter Golf “Experiment”

My Cold Weather Golf

Nope – no snow here.  But right now – mid October – the temperature is 32 degrees, and the high today will be 60 degrees.

I have been doing what I can to “fight the good” golf distance fight.  Doing STACK Golf Speed Training a few times a week and seeing driver distance improvement.  Just built a new Wishon EQ-1 NX 5 Wood and expect to see a bit of distance gain with that club.

In the past few months I am sure, because of doing STACK training, I have hit some drives as long as 220 to 230 yards total distance. But being realistic, my average driving distance is about 200 yards.  And now with the weather getting colder, this article suggests that it is reasonable to expect a 5 yard distance drop because of the colder weather – and that does account for the fact that I will wear more layers of clothing in colder weather.

At my home course the senior tees are 5,900 yards.  There is also a set of “combo” tees that plays at about 5,400 yards, that many of my golf friends play.  This article suggests that with a 200 yard average driving distance, I should be playing the 5,400 yard tees.

And so – starting this week – I am going to move from the 5,900 yard to the 5,400 yard course.  For me at least for this fall and winter, this is going to be a realistic challenge – and also pass my personal “fun test!”

What passes the golf fun test for you?!

A Little Preview! – In about two weeks, I will interview Kent Osborne – author of a wonderful book titled The Golfer Who Developed A Scratch Attitude.  A valuable golf improvement read that I highly recommend!
