My First Hole In One – It Happened!
About 10 years ago, my wife Diane bought the Hole In One pasta that you see in the image above. Hoping that someday she would get to make it for us.
Well – last Friday at the Oak Ridge Country Club – hole #17 – Wishon 989 CLA 7 iron from 145 yards – and yes using my personal Clear Key pre shot routine cue – I hit a shot dead straight at the pin. The hole is elevated, so could not see the ball go in the hole. The short version of the story is that the ball hit about 2 inches from the pin – I looked in the hole and there was a lovely Snell golf ball in it!!
I reacted differently to this that would have ever expected. Very calm, no screaming and jumping up and down. Not exactly like how I would have expected I would act.
When I got home – after a few beers with my friends (!) – I looked on line to see the stats for the probability of making a hole in one – here is a link to the National Hole In One Registry for a good summary of hole in one stats. I am still so amazed I could join others who have made one – and always wondered if it would happen for me.
I wish this experience for everyone! And one more picture below (no, I did not use a putter…!!). Now, will we REALLY eat the 10 year old pasta??!!
