The New Wishon 719 MW!!
For most of the past 10 years, my driver head of choice has been the Wishon 919 THI. For me and pretty much every golfer I have fit with it, it has been a great performer.
But for the last year or so, I and many other club fitters have known that something new was coming from the most accomplished club designer in the world. And it hit the streets this week – the new Wishon 719 MW. This new driver head took Tom Wishon 4 years to design – because he wanted to create a Moveable Weight (“MW”) adjustable hosel driver head that would perform the way he wanted it to perform.
There are 4 weight ports in the 719 head – two in the heel and toe, two 90 degrees from those locations. Varying the weights in these locations can create some differences in ball flight, and can create some differences in draw or fade bias.
BUT – BUT – BUT — the real “biggie” about this new design is that it was designed to have a 30 gram weight that could be used in one of the weight ports. The higher the swing speed, the less weight is required to see a shot shape change. BUT for golfers with swing speeds less than 100 mph (alas me right now for sure!), the 30 gram weight is likely to be necessary to allow a golfer to see a shot shape change. And designing a head that could accept a 30 gram weight was a huge manufacturing challenge – but Tom did it!

My 11.5 degree loft 719 MW head is traveling over the ocean from Diamond Golf International as I write this post. I can’t wait to try different moveable weight combinations, and see how they affect the driver performance for me.
