Outlive - MY Favorite Book Of 2023!

Ah, I started playing golf again on June 1!  As important as that is to my enjoyment and life – the most important thing that has happened to me in the past few weeks was when a Breakfast Rotary friend Mike Plum told me about the amazing new book Outlive, by Peter Attia MD.  It is a book about challenging all of the things we think we know about how to live longer, but perhaps especially about how to extend long-term life enjoyment – what he calls “healthspan.”  Promoting practical things – often against conventional wisdom – that we can do to promote lifespan and healthspan when we are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and older.

I was all in about this book from a health standpoint.  But then he had me – particularly from a golf standpoint – when he talked about the importance of the concept of Stability.  That word pulled together a lot of concepts for me – from the importance of stability in a golf swing and putting, to the importance of stability in helping you to not become injured being able to do the things you love to do.  He sees stability as the foundation of all of the major elements of exercise – view this link.
