7 Woods Are LOVELY!
7 Woods Are LOVELY!
Why You Should Consider Playing With One…
From the moment (about 5 years ago) I added a Wishon Golf 950 HC (Hi COR) 7 wood to my bag, it was my favorite club. Great launch, easy and fun to hit. Now more and more Tour Players are realizing it is a great option for them – and if you are not playing with one, why not!!
Here are two articles discussing why Tour players are no longer embracing the “stigma” of playing with 7 woods…

Here are three things you may want to consider if you decide to add a 7 wood to your bag…
- Be sure your 7 wood loft is a match for the other fairway woods in your bag. Mine is 21 degrees – my 5 wood is 18 degrees, and my (YES) 9 wood is 24 degrees. So the distance gapping between all of my fairway woods is about 10 yards.
- Some “off the rack” 7 woods might be as long as 42 inches. That might or might be too long for you – I view “standard” length for a 7 wood to be 41 inches (mine is 40-5/8 inches).
- You should consider having the same shaft in all of your fairway woods. And if you are really particular like me, having all of your fairway woods MOI matched (my best fairway wood total club MOI is 2745 kg-cm^2). They all feel the same to swing.
Yep – 7 woods (and even higher lofted fairway woods!) are LOVELY!
