LOVING Your 5 Wood!
LOVING Your 5 Wood!
As You Age – Love It More And More…
Ego – or Lower Scores? About a week ago, I read an article that really resonated with me. It was about something golf professional Todd Sones advocates, and here is The Link to this article. Bottom line – is keeping a 13 to 15 degree 3 wood in your bag helping you to Shoot Lower Scores – or hurting you?
I can remember the “old days” when, sometimes, I could hit a 3 wood up to about 230 yards and even hit a par 5 in two. I think those thoughts had me keep my 3 wood in my bag – until about 6 months ago when I substituted a 4 wood. And even with THAT extra loft, that club was harder – with my 72 year old swing speed – to hit well. Once in awhile yes, but not consistently.
So last week after reading the Todd Sones article out went the 4 wood, back in the 18-degree loft 5 wood. The 5 wood is a much better match for my club distances – I can hit it something like 185 to 190 yards – which is about 10 yards longer than my 7 wood. And the 5 wood is a LOT easier to hit than even the 4 wood was – shorter length and more loft – a recipe for more consistent shots.
So if the Todd Sones article resonates with you – be the best YOU that you presently are, and Love Your 5 Wood more than you ever did!
