My Most “Acceptable” Putting Round EVER!
My Most “Acceptable” Putting Round EVER!
The Results – And Thoughts On WHY…
My plan was to post a podcast episode this week. But THEN I played on Tuesday, and I had the most amazing and satisfying putting experience ever – and had to share it with you.
First the results – My Strokes Gained Putting for the round (from my ShotbyShot app analysis) was +5.8 SGP – by far the best putting round results ever for me. And – though I am not the biggest fan of tracking total length of putts made – for just the longer putts I made, I made over 140 Feet Of Putts. Putt lengths of 17, 12, 50, 30, 20, and 12 feet. 3 birdies. Final score of 76, actually best score of the year.
It Was SO MUCH FUN! And afterward, I did my best to put together some ideas for why this happened on this day…
- First, I did the second of my now “normal” two STACK Putting Sessions for the week. I actually had made a slight change (improvement) to my putting grip. But I was also totally into my personal PROCESS for preparing and hitting each putt. The session results were pretty good.
- My round started out pretty well – even par for the first 5 holes (2 birdies and 2 bogies). I had some trouble on the 6th hole, and had a 50 foot putt for par. And for some reason, I stood over that putt and remembered something I learned from Steve Yellin and applying The Fluid Motion Factor. I stood over that putt, and decided to have Total Acceptance of whatever the result of that putt would be. In went the putt, and my golf buddies all said what the heck is going on with you!
- So, for the rest of my round – and particularly for putts – I monitored my Level Of Acceptance Of The Results before I hit the shot. What was a bit “funny” was that I had a few 30 foot putts that I left short of the hole and I knew immediately after hitting them that my Level Of Acceptance Of Results was not high. Actually – pretty interesting!
So I know and realize that I should not expect a putting round like this to normally happen for me. But on that day – goodness it was so much fun!
