Some Interesting New Golf Club Options!
Some Interesting New Golf Club Options
To Me – FASTINATING!
It is “That Time” of the year when golf club companies start to roll out some of their new club designs and options. Here is my take on some new club options that – I think – are pretty interesting…
Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal “High Launch.” This one is in the category of – “I Have Been Waiting!” First, I love Mizunos (and their iron fitting system) so am a bit biased. Mizuno, like all of the major OEM companies, has for years offered stronger loft head options for some of their clubs – typically in their Hot Metal line. However, THIS YEAR they have taken a bit of a chance with the new Hot Metal “High Launch” option.
Their new JPX 923 Hot Metal line has a 6 iron loft of 25 degrees, and a gap wedge loft of 48 degrees. However, the new JPX 923 Hot Metal “High Launch” has a 6 iron loft of 28 degrees, and a gap wedge loft of 50 degrees. The High Launch lofts are more in like with traditional club lofts, and use the face design of their Hot Metal clubs.
My prediction is that the High Launch design is going to be a really winner for Mizuno. Higher launch from the higher lofts, more potential distance from the Hot Metal face design. This could be a trend setting decision by Mizuno – and good for golfers! DETAILS – CLICK HERE!
New Wilson Staff Putters. Wilson Staff a few days ago announced some new putter designs. Whenever I see a new putter design offering, I ask what are the range of putter head weights that are offered – you know me – No Sledgehammer Putters! The industry trend seems to be heavier and heavier, and often with only one head weight for all putter lengths. Well Wilson – way to go!! Their new putter line (except for the new 8802 version) offers variable head weights from 340 grams to 380 grams – making their putters in my view an option that many golfers should consider. Wishon EQ-1 NX Fairway Woods. Well OK, not new this year – but for sure one of the most successful Tom Wishon club designs ever. After the continued success of Tom’s single-length iron designs, he decided to create a fairway wood design that could be used for golfers who can get value from playing single-length fairway woods.
Tom’s EQ-1 NX fairway woods can be built BOTH for single-length and for standard length fairway woods. This is because of the weight-port options in the head. In addition, the performance of this head design is exceptional – my fitting friend Keith Chatham with PrecisionFit Golf in Kerrville, TX says this is the best fairway wood design he has fit with for his senior golfers in all of the years he has been a professional club fitter.
Two EQ-1 NX fairway woods sent out to West Coast golfers this week, and soon an EQ-1 NX 5 wood in my bag. Enough said! DETAILS – CLICK HERE!
Like I said at the start – FASCINATING!
